Impressionist Projects

Paul Cezanne Project:

Students learn the technique of Oil Pastels via teacher instruction. Students use instruction provided by online resource to complete their oil pastel project. The project is due on Friday.

Students learn about Paul Cezanne and view a biography video on the artist.

Project Grading:

30 points –  Overall understanding of concepts introduced by teacher. Student understands the use of space, Balance, Value, Contrast. Students understand the use of Oil Pastel and the blending process.

30 points – Student follows computer aided instruction 1-20 {20}

20 points – Craftsmanship ( Is student keeping a clean orderly paper, Name on paper correctly, Not wrinkled and folded)

20 points- Behavior during class, Clean up of students work space. ( Is the student miss behaving, Talking too much, not following classroom / school policy)

Total 100 points.

Identifying and experimenting with materials, tools, techniques, and processes; selecting and using materials, tools, techniques, and processes that enhance communication of ideas through art; and evaluating the selection and use of materials, tools, techniques, and processes.

Standard 4, Grade 5-8 {In grades 5-8}, what students know and are able to do includes: Students relate the visual arts to various historical and cultural traditions. Identifying and comparing the characteristics of works of art from various cultures, times, and places; creating art based on personal interpretation of various historical and cultural contexts; demonstrating how history and culture of various people influence the creation, meaning, and style of works of art.

Standard 5, Grade 5-8 {In grades 5-8}, what students know and are able to do includes: Students analyze and evaluate the characteristics, merits, and meaning of works of art. Identifying and discussing reasons for creating works of art; using methods of critical analysis and aesthetic inquiry; and formulating responses to works of art from personal and critical points of view.

 

Week 2

 Impressionist work sheet assessment

Art History (Core Knowledge) Teacher introduction to Impressionism followed by:

Students were given a hand out that showed multiple pictures of Impressionist and post impressionist artists. There is a word bank to help the students. Students are to match the artist with their works and tell me if they are impressionist or post impressionist. Students will use the computer and my website to research and fill in the worksheet during class. This should take 2 class periods. Students will have a fill in the blank test on this material next Thursday. This assignment complete and correct is worth  (20 points)

 Impressionism & Post Impressionism Test

Students were given a study guide 2 weeks ago as well as plenty of time to look over the elements needed for this quiz. The handout was also on my website for students to review. We discussed in class and gave students multiple warnings that the exam is on Friday. The quiz was essentially the handout.

 

If the student fails the quiz with below a 72% average. The student may schedule a time before the end of the trimester to retake to get no max then a 72%. If the student does not retake their score will stay the original grade they received.
